Our pets mean the world to us and when they leave, though the pain may subside over time, the emptiness remains. In a quote by the Rev. Joel L. Morgan, “Grief is so painfully real, regardless of its origin. The love of, and attachment to, an animal friend can equal that of human relationships. Likewise, the loss of an animal can be just as devastating.”
To honor the loss of your pet, you'll find resources here to help you deal with that loss. My heart goes out to you as I too have lost two beloved pets and have written poems I hope you'll enjoy reading in their memory.
At Critters.com you can honor the memory of your pet with a online pet memorial that you design yourself. Add your own photos, thoughts and feelings. Many people experience healing during their grief by remembering the special times in a virtual memorial.
Pet Memorials are free for text only. For a full featured momorial, the cost is $35. Critters.com is a part of VirtualMemorials.com which has been providing memorials for loved ones since 1996.
I dedicate these poems to my Lambchop and Smokey who left for a heavenly place.

"Lambchop’s Sweet Repose" by Luba
Her time has come to meet new friends
In that place where life never ends
Where bellies get rubbed with loving caress
And tails wagging ardently in sheer happiness
She’s no longer angry or mistrusting of all
She knows where she is there’s a safe place to fall
On earth she wasn’t social, but suddenly here
In this place of new friends, she plays with all who come near
Her ears always upright and on the alert
For some new activity she could exert
Her energy now boundless and no longer a drain
She runs with her new friends on this endless plain
There’s a hole in my heart you once occupied,
I miss you so much and loved you with pride
The burdens you bared were an albatross
But you were tough as they come and showed them whose boss
For those who knew her I’m sure she’s sad
She departed so quickly when she would like to have had
At lease one last lick from her loving Eddie
So for him she will wait, until he’s ready
For this last refrain, she bids all good-bye
She’s at peace and in comfort amid the clouds in the sky
So long my Lambchop, enjoy your new world
Knowing you’ve filled mine with love unfurled
Died July 4, 2008, 1:20am at a feisty 17 years of age

“Smokey My Prince of Paws “ By Luba 08-11-08
So regal you are with your eyes shining bright
You look up at the stars and into the night
My heart now somber for the destiny that waits
When God takes you from me to heaven’s gate
Don’t let it be painful, invasive and long
This cancerous growth that doesn’t belong
The wounds are too fresh to endure this again
Please, not my Smokey who’s just only ten
Those that have met you were at once smitten
He’s so long and so lean yet mews like a kitten
His stature impressive as he struts through the room
When his eyes engage you, you’re suddenly consumed
I knew that look when his eyes would say
I would like to have a bath today
And when I’d walk my Lamby Loo
I’d grab his leash and walk him too
Evocative as you are you’ve touched me so deeply
I love you so much, you love me so sweetly
Little Ash will miss you and be bereft of
When you pass from the ground to the sky up above
As you go through the gates, say hi to Lambchop
She’ll welcome you there with a little teardrop
You’ll meet her new friends and make some of your own
Feel comfort in knowing my life you have sown
On August ten, two thousand and eight
You let me know you can no longer wait
I released you to heaven and now you are gone
Forever a memory in my heart you’ll live on
